Gravesites
The early burial places of the Herstatt family mentioned in documents were located in the Protestant cemeteries of the towns of Eschweiler, Stolberg and Düren.
Isaak Herstatt (1697-1761) and his son and bank founder Johann David Herstatt (1740-1809) and his wife are buried in the old Protestant cemetery in Cologne Weyertal. The so-called Geusenfriedhof was in use until 1829 and has been preserved until today.
From Friedrich Peter Herstatt (1775-1801) onwards, the Herstatt family found their final resting place at the new Melaten Central Cemetery in Cologne, initially in a grave (crypt) on the main path of the cemetery.

Friedrich Johann David Herstatt (1831-1888) chose his own burial place on Melaten for himself and his descendants, which is still used by the family today.
