The old banking house
The old Herstatt banking house in Cologne was located at Hohe Pforte 25-27. Banking business was conducted here from 1782 to 1888. The Herstatt family had their private rooms on the upper floor. The building fell victim to the bombs of the Second World War and was replaced by a new building in the 1950s. The house bears the inscription “Herstatt-Haus” on the front and is owned by the relatives.


The new I.D. Herstatt banking house
The new Bankhaus I.D. Herstatt was built in 1957 in Cologne, Unter Sachsenhausen 6 in two construction stages. The bank was built to the most modern technical standards of the time and served as the headquarters of Bankhaus I.D. Herstatt until 1974. After the bank went bankrupt, it stood empty for a long time and today houses an archive.
